I applied for an AN Bursary and my application was rejected. Not much else to say really.
‘Thank you for your recent application for an a-n Artist Bursary.
Unfortunately, on this occasion your application has been unsuccessful. We received over 550 applications this year, of which we longlisted 110, awarding bursaries to 70 artists. The quality of applications was very high, which made the selection process a difficult one for the panel.
This year we have been trialing models for offering artists feedback on their applications for Artist Bursaries. For the first time we are offering feedback to artists who were long-listed but not awarded a bursary. As a very small team with limited capacity we are unfortunately not able to offer feedback on every application, and yours was not one of our long-listed applications.
We are aware this can be frustrating for applicants who weren’t longlisted and we are exploring options to offer feedback in the future, but with such large numbers of applicants we are sure you can appreciate the challenge to do this in a way that would be useful to you.
We have compiled some top tips for writing applications for a-n opportunities which can be found on our website here. We would recommend reading and incorporating this guidance in to future applications, which we would very much encourage you to make.’
