Video piece made during a residency with ACOSS in Yerevan, Armenia during 2013 and completed during 2014 back in the studio in Glasgow. On the left of the screen is a walk through Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia. On the right hand side of the screen, I turn the pages of a book titled 'The Architecture of Soviet Armenia' which I purchased at the flea market in Yerevan. The book was published in 1986 and is part of a series of 15 books that celebrated 50 years of Soviet Russia. Each of the volumes shows the architecture of each country that was developed under Soviet rule. The video explores the imagined and the real, showing the difference between Utopian dreams and the actual reality of the place.
